“Gagik Tsarukyan’s political reincarnation derives from interests of all the sides” (video)
The recent statement by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs differed from the previous ones, says political expert Sergey Minasyan. He says that this time the statement was stricter and more concrete, “Naturally, taking into account diplomatic features, concrete addresser wasn’t mentioned there, but it was evident whom the highlights of the statement were addressed. The factor of the initiator of April events, casualties among the peaceful population and the tortures as well as the factor that issues relating to expanding the mission of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and making progress on a proposal to establish an OSCE investigative mechanism were highlighted, they are exceptionally connected with Azerbaijan.” Though, at the same time the political expert noted that the diplomatic process is one of the elements of process of maintaining stability on the Line of Contact and over Artsakh conflict, “For the Armenian side the most important thing is concrete military-political, military-technical element.” Sergey Minasyan also touched upon regular phase of Armenia-EU negotiations held in Brussels, “There are rather serious hopes that next year we will have that new framework agreement, which, in fact, will be the simplified version of the Association agreement and will include not only political, but also economic agreements and agreements over other spheres, legal base, which will create real circles for Armenia-EU further cooperation.” Touching upon expected inner political events, he singled out rumors on possible return of Gagik Tsarukyan, “Political reincarnation of Gagik Tsarukyan will happen. It is clear that fact derives from the interests of the authorities, Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Head and its team. It is clear that political force has rather serious financial, human resources, which are not often seen in Armenian political field. But time will show whether he will be able to resume those resources, which he had before leaving the politics.” The political expert noted that the fact that the Armenian National Congress (HAK) pre-election list will be headed by Levon Ter-Petrosyan, may result in interesting developments and make pre-election campaign more unpredictable.
