Serzh Sargsyan sends condolence letter to his Brazilian counterpart over plane crash

Serzh Sargsyan has sent a letter of condolences to President of Brazil Michel Temer over the plane crash in mountains outside the Colombian city of Medellin which left 71 people dead Monday night, including members of a professional Brazilian soccer team. The Armenian president expressed condolences and support to his Brazilian counterpart, the friendly people of Brazil and relatives of the victims, wishing them patience and fortitude in these difficult times. Serzh Sargsyan stressed that the fact that the plane crash has survivors already gives us strength to look forward. A chartered plane with a Brazilian first division football team crashed near Medellin while on its way to the finals of a regional tournament, killing 71 people.

The aircraft, which had departed from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, was transporting the Chapecoense team from southern Brazil for the first leg of a two-game Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional of Medellin, which was due to be played on Wednesday.
