This country is in a deplorable state but everyone is discussing the 1000 dram bill. This is a shameful thing for a self-respecting country, economist Vardan Bostanjyan said on November 23. He says the authorities are making a mistake by collecting AMD 1000 from people to be able to cover the costs of the military. “The country is in a grave situation, while the authorities beg money to keep our soldiers. This is a real shame, I am ashamed to hear such talks. If you were so excited you had better look at the luxurious cars of the Ministry of Defense which outnumber its staff. How can this happen? The person who once dreamed to drive his neighbour’s кick scooter today is driving a car costing over $100 000. Now I just suppose that some clever people are sitting there who believe that they have always cheated people and can do it again. Vardan Ayvazyan, a lawmaker of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), agreed that the discussions of the 1000 dram were just a raunchy: those who have stolen the money, should pay it back. He added that the bill allows the state and the nation to have a symbolic contribution to the protection of the army. "The law may become mandatory but later they may say that all those who are reluctant to help the army can write an application and refuse to pay AMD 1000. We will see how many people will do it,” he said. Vardan Bostanjyan interrupted the HHK lawmaker saying, “You are saying very exciting things…” “Give him a handkerchief to wipe away his tears,” Vardan Ayvazyan said in reply. Mr. Bostanjyan wanted to know the author of that 'wonderful and extraordinary probability theory' – the 1000 dram bill. “It originated in Israel, where the nation created one of the most powerful armies in the world,” Mr. Ayvazyan said. “Let the authorities step down and go away. We can keep ourselves,” the economist said. “Once you were in power, too. You were affiliated with the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) that was our junior brother for four years,” the HHK lawmaker reminded the economist.
