Eleven lawmakers sign petition initiated by Rise up, Armenia movement
Eleven lawmakers have signed the petition requesting to change the restraint of Davit Hovhannisyan, a member of the “Rise up, Armenia” civil initiative. Below are the names of these lawmakers; Hrant Bagratyan, Edmond Marukyan, Alexander Arzumanyan, Aram Manukyan, Levon Zurabyan, Zaruhi Postanjyan, Nikol Pashinyan, Elinar Vardanyan, Tevan Poghosyan, Tigran Urikhanyan and Heghine Bisharyan. “Political prisober Davit Hovhannsiyan has been kept in Nubarashen penitentiary institution for two months after the clashes between demonstrators and police in Yerevan’s Sari Tagh district on July 29. He was detained based on the testimony of two police officers. Hovhannisya’s lawyer, Hovik Arsenyan, is going to file another motion with the Court of Appeals requesting to review the precautionary measure of his client. He will attach the signatures of the MPs to the document. A number of intellectuals, public and political figures have joined the petition.
