The logic of the mayoral elections in Vanadzor city contradicts the norms and spirit of political culture, the Hamakhmbum (Consolidation) Party said on October 11. “Obviously, there has been pressure on some members of the Council of Elders who are not affiliated with the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). There has a shady deal. The conduct of elections with such methods is a blow to the political system. The systemic reforms proclaimed by the new constitution, the idea of a new beginning, were marred by the elections in Vanadzor. The fact is that under convincing wording, the authorities simply try to ensure their reproduction and centralize everything in the hands of one party. In the give circumstances, the task of political forces and civil society is to find consolidating formula which will allow combining efforts and riding country of the unpromising situation of political monopoly in the upcoming parliamentary elections,” the party said.
