Karabakh: Azerbaijan exacerbates situation on Line of Contact
The latest developments on the Line of Contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces make the impression that Azerbaijan has adopted a tactic to gradually escalate the situation on the frontline. This tactic is reflected in terms of ceasefire violations and weapons used in them, Nagorno Karabakh’s Defense Army said in a statement. “It is noteworthy that the same Azerbaijan which provoked the four-day hostilities in Karabakh this April and then, avoiding an imminent defeat, resumed the ceasefire through a third party’s mediation. under the ceasefire agreement reached in May 1994, has again resumed provocations not only on the Line of Contact, but also in the field of propaganda. In the past several days, the enemy employed various caliber weapons, including DShK heavy machine guns, Black Arrow and Istiglal long-range sniper rifles, AGS-17 grenade launchers. Today, the same Azerbaijan issued a statement claiming that Armenia employed 60-mm mortars to fire towards its positions. The NKR Ministry of Defense declares with full responsibility that the misinformation disseminated by Azerbaijan is nothing but a propaganda trick.
