Newly appointed community head of Tsaghkahovit was charged with large-scale embezzlement in 2014
It turns out that Norain Hakobyan, who at yesterday’s elections has been elected a community head of Tsaghkahovit in Aragatsotn marz, was charged with large-scale embezzlement in 2014 under the RA Criminal Code Article 179, third part, first point. To remind, member of “Sasna Dzrer” group Arayik Khandoyan and Republican Yervand Khachatryan had also nominated their candidacy. We learn from the judicial informative portal that Norain Hakobyan, being a community head of Tsaghkahovit village of Aragatston marz from 2002 to 2012, abused his official position, continually wasting estate worth AMD 4 million 249 102 registered in Tsakhkahovit’s balance and belonging to the community. The defendant also embezzled the tubes registered in the community’s balance, causing the community damage worth AMD 4 million 661 480. The criminal case was instituted in 30.04.2014 under the RA Criminal Code Article 179, Part 3, Point 1. Seven months later decision was made to choose a 2-month detention as a precautionary measure against Norain Hakobyan. But after paying 10 million bail, he was released. By the way former village headman, Republican Yervand Ananik Khachatryan was recognized an aggrieved party to the case. In the end, on June 13, 2016 the General Jurisdiction Court of First Instance of Aragatsotn Marz made a decision to terminate the case proceedings and stop the criminal prosecution. Photo by news.am
