The U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills today visited “Grigor Lusavorich” medical center and met with the journalists receiving treatment there. To remind, journalists were injured during yesterday’s clashes between the police and the protesters. He spoke to A1+ journalist Robert Ananyan and Lifenews cameraman Tigran Gasparyan. By the way, short time ago in Khorenatsi street the RA Deputy Police Chief Levon Yeranosyan approached the journalist of Lifenews, and without getting out of the car, smilingly inquired about health condition of the cameraman and quickly left. Tigran received shrapnel injury. Later the press service of the U.S. Embassy informed that after meeting with the journalists of A1+ and LifeNews, he stopped at the offices of RFE/RL Azatutyun, several of whose reporters were also injured last night. "Free speech requires a press that can report the news free from the fear of injury. Injuring journalists injures the entire society and its democratic promise," Ambassador Mills said. “We will work to make sure no one involved in last night's violence, including security officials, will participate in any training or other program supported by the U.S. government."
