The night passed without major incidents on Yerevan’s Khorenatsi Street where a police building remains under the control of an armed group calling itself Sasna Dzrer (Daredevils of Sasoun). The street is still blocked by trucks and policemen. Chief of the Armenian Police, Vladimir Gasparyan appeared on the scene for a short time late at night. Armenian Ombudsman’s Office continued to work ‘in emergency mode’ all night through, with its staffers visiting different police units to get information about people detained by the police in the aftermath of yesterday’s events. They also studied the reasons for their detention. The Office reports that about 50 people had been set free by 2a.m. Davit Sanasryan, Andrias Ghukasyan and Shahen Harutyunyan were among the released. Varujan Avetisyan, one of the members of the Founding Parliament member and the armed group that stormed the seized police station on Sunday morning, talked to Armlur.am after midnight. He said they had set free another hostage and added that ‘all others are sleeping at this moment.’
