Thousands of dead fish found in Hrazdan River (video)
On July 3, Pan-Armenian Environmental Front” civic initiative received a report about numerous dead fish found in the Hrazdan River. Before the arrival of the initiative’s team, the river had swept away pat of the fish. Anyway, the sight was horrible. Eye-witnesses said there were thousands of dead fish in that part of the river and many of them were eaten by birds.
Several reports about dead fish found in different parts of the river have been received in the past years but no one knows the real cause of the mass fish die-off in the river and and no one has been punished for it. The reasons may be different associated with emissions, water pollution, the use of chlorine, etc.
The Pan-Armenian Environmental Front has reported to the Ministry of Nature Protection and expects the latter to take corresponding measures to identify and punish the guilty persons. The initiative has also taken samples of the dead fish and forwarded to specialist for examination.
