The latest meeting of the Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia will bring temporary peace to the region, but only for a short period of time, says Armenian lawmaker Gagik Melikyan. “I am sure that Azerbaijan will do everything possible to violate the ceasefire again,” said the member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). He says Turkey seconds Azerbaijan in everything. Speaking about the handshake of Presidents Ilham Aliev (Azerbaijan) and Serzh Sargsyan (ARmenia), the lawmaker said, “That is politics, yes, you can shake your enemy’s hand in order to achieve peace.” Speaking about the arrest of opposition activist Jirayr Sefilyan, Gagik Melikyan said the arrest does not have political motives. Nor is it connected with Sefilyan’s statements concerning the loss of territories in the four-day April war. “These are merely attempts by the press to find out the truth. Similar statements have been made by the authorities, political forces and media,” he added.
