A group of Turks staged a protest outside the Consulate of Germany against Germany’s approval of a resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide which immediately generated harsh responses from Turkey. The German parliament voted on Thursday to become the 26th nation to define the mass murder of 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Empire in 1915 as genocide. The declaration predictably drew emotional reactions from Germany's Turkish and Armenian communities. Representatives of Germany's 50,000-strong Armenian community welcomed Germany’s resolution dancing outside the German Parliament. Later in the day, groups of Armenians gathered outside the German Embassy in Yerevan to celebrate the victory and say ‘thank you’ to Germany.
