Live broadcast by 1in.am 16:50 First, Garni residents asked for guarantees from Prime Minister that hereafter no one will threaten them, will not frighten them for their fight, then urged Prime Minister to say when the project will be cancelled in a written form, not wanting to open the highway. Hovik Abrahamyan promised to cancel the project in a written form on Monday. “If the project didn’t have a problem, and you closed the road, nothing would change, the state would open the road, but if we have come here, we also understand that there are drawbacks,” said Prime Minister urging to open the road so that he can approach the construction site. 16:16 Short time ago Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan approached Garni residents to listen to their demands. Garni residents demanded from Prime Minister to remove the equipment from that area. “Prime Minister and President must live in the worst condition and not the people. The authorities have burnt all the bridges. You must have come with a decision on cancellation,” noted Garni residents. In reply to their demands, Prime Minister wanted to speak, but Garni resident didn’t let him speak. “No nation treats its Prime Minister like that,” said Hovik Abrahamyan, trying to silence Garni residents and answer their questions. Finally, Prime Minister noted, “I don’t think that there is any prime minister who would like to cut off water of residents. I myself will cancel that project, if I am convinced that it will have negative consequences. If all the people of Garni want the cancellation of the project, there is no problem, it won’t be implemented, tomorrow we will hold a survey in order to find out it.” 16:00 Starting from early morning Garni residents again blocked Yerevan-Garni road. They are demanding to stop the construction activities in Azat Gorge. By a government decision, an irrigation system must be constructed in the gorge that will take water from the Azat River and send it to Kaghtsrashen and Narek communities in Ararat province. Action participants claim that the Garni gorge is jeopardized and say the water will be piped to irrigate the lands and fish farms belonging to the Prime Minister. At the moment the people are demanding a cancellation of the project. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is listening to Garni residents.
