RA MoD: Azerbaijani side again violates ceasefire agreement
On May 16-17 overnight in the northeastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border the Azerbaijani side continued firing sporadic shots from different caliber rifle and sniper weapons toward the Armenian positions. According to the operative information of the NKR DA, On May 16 and 17 overnight the adversary violated the ceasefire agreement on the Line of Contact between the opposing forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan using different caliber rifle weapons, Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) (30 shells), 60 mm mortars (16 shells) and automatic grenade launchers (32 shells). More intensive violations were registered in the southeastern (Hadrut) and eastern (Martuni) directions. To note, the Azerbaijani armed forces took destabilizing and provocative actions during the meeting of Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Vienna organized with the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, as a result of which on May 17 at about 00:50, serviceman Khachatur Vardan Harutyunyan (born in 1996) received fatal gunshot wound in one of the military units stationed in the southern direction. Investigation is underway to find out the details of the incident. The NKR Ministry of Defense shares the heavy grief of loss and expresses its support to the family, relatives and fellow servicemen of the killed soldier.
