A military parade was held in Haghtanak (Victory) park in Yerevan to mark a “triple” anniversary – liberation of Shushi, the formation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s Defense Army and the victory in World War II. The event was attended by Serzh Sargsyan who was accompanied by high-ranking officials. After the parade, Serzh Sargsyan hurried to a pavilion to join veterans of the Great Patriotic War for a military meal. His security officers did not allow journalists to photograph him even at a distance. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin talked to journalists before the parade. Answering a question about the sale of Russian arms to Azerbaijan, Mr Volinkin said, “Do you have documents proving that we sell weapons to Azerbaijan?” After the journalists reminded the Russian diplomat of the statement of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, Ambassador Volinkin said, “Russia sells arms to both Azerbaijan and Armenia.”
