Karabakh: Azerbaijan targeted not only military positions, but also Mataghis village
The enemy's artillery activity, which intensified along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces on April 23, continued through the night of April 24, this according to the Defense Ministry of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. During this time, Azerbaijani armed forces opened intense fire on Armenian positions in the northeastern (Martakert) and northern (Talish) directions of the Line of Contact, using various caliber weapons, including 60-mm mortars (16 shots) and 82-mm mortars (99 shots), 122-mm howitzer D-30 (19 shots) and 107mm rockets. The enemy targeted not only Artsakh’s military positions, but also Mataghis village of Martakert region, firing a heavy projectile from type D-30 howitzer. Fortunately, the Armenian side did not sustain causalities. The Defense Army’s frontline units were forced to retaliate in order to stabilize the situation and halt the aggression of the rival. The NKR Defense Ministry says the enemy’s aggressive actions prove yet another time that Azerbaijan continues to overtly violate the verbally agreed ceasefire of April 5, and deliberately exacerbates the situation at the frontline.
