Hayk Demoyan: We need to change official rhetoric (video)
Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute has drafted a conceptual document following Azerbaijan's military offensive in Karabakh at the beginning of April. Hayk Demoyan, the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, says the document refers to the genocidal acts against Armenians and new functions of the Armenian armed forces. “We must say that the new feature of our army is to exclude new genocides, our army has a sense of responsibility and commitment to prevent new genocides. I think one need not have the disdain for the word “genocide.” Mr Demoyan says unless genocide perpetrators are punished, there will always be fear that new genocides will be committed. “We need to change official rhetoric, introducing new formulations,” he stressed. Hayk Demoyan also presented the activities of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. In this context, he emphasized the opening of a permanent exhibition on April 21, 2015, which has already been visited by 180 thousand people, including 1,500 Turks. He added that temporary exhibitions have been organized by the AGMI in more than 50 cities in Armenia and abroad.
