Karabakh: Situation remains unchanged on Karabakh-Azerbaijan border
The operative situation at the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops remained unchanged on the night of April 23, with the Azerbaijani side committing about 70 violations. According to Nagorno-Karabakh’s Defense Ministry, Azerbaijan continued to violate the verbal agreement on ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone at night. Besides using firearms of different calibers, Azerbaijani troops also fired in the southeastern direction (Hadrut) from RPG-7 grenade launchers (1 shot) and ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon. “The NKR Defense Army’s vanguard units continue to confidently carry out their combat duty and control the operative situation along the entire perimeter of the line of contact,” Nagorno-Karabakh’s Defense Ministry said. Armenia and Azerbaijan verbally agreed on maintaining a ceasefire regime on April 5 after four days of heavy fighting in which scores were killed and wounded on both sides.
