Mortar used on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border
On April 15 and 16 overnight 18 cases of ceasefire violation was registered in the northeastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border. The Azerbaijani side opened irregular fire toward the Armenian positions from different caliber rifle and sniper weapons. In addition to rifle weapons, 60 mm mortar (2 shells) was used. The RA Armed forces vanguard units, displaying restraint, took retaliatory actions only if strictly necessary and confidently keep the border situation under control. The NKR DA informs, on April 15 and 16 overnight the operative situation on the Line of Contact between the opposing forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan remained the same. The adversary violated the ceasefire, reached between the sides orally, more than 70 times along the entire front line mostly using rifle weapons of different caliber. As a result of violation of the oral ceasefire agreement, in the northern direction (Talish) of the Line of Contact at about 02:15 an incident occurred, due to which serviceman Gagik Khurshudyan received a gunshot wound to his left arm. In reply to the attaching actions by the Azerbaijani armed forces, the DA vanguard units took retaliatory actions and quelled the adversary’s activity.
