Tensions continue on Karabakh frontline: Armenian soldier killed in fresh ceasefire violation
Armenian soldier Manvel Gevorgyan received a fatal gunshot wound at 11:20 p.m., April 14, as Azerbaijan opened fire on the Karabakh positions in the direction of Martuni region, reports the Defense Ministry of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. “The situation along the Line of Contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces remained the same on the night of April 14-15. Azerbaijan violated the truce at least 60 times last night, keeping the situation tense in the northern (Gulistan), northeastern (Talish-Martakert), eastern (Martuni) and southern (Hadrut) sections of the LoC. In particular, Azerbaijani troops used 82-mm mortars (3) and 60-mm mortars (12), as well as AGS-17 grenade launchers (16) to open fire on the aforesaid Armenian positions,” the NKR Defense Ministry said in a statement. The Ministry says its vanguard units perform their combat tasks in conformity with developments on the frontline and confidently defend their borders. “Azerbaijani side bears full responsibility for the consequences arising from incidents occurring on the frontline,” the statement reads.
