Nikol Pashinyan: Reasons for Armenia's withdrawal from EEU are not rational
Though I understand all those who think that Armenia should withdraw from the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), I do not find their reasons rational. I shall explain why. The EEU is a structure that operates on the principle of consensus, which means that decisions are made with the consent of all members, Armenian lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan said. “Should Armenia be against any of the EEU decisions, that decision cannot be adopted. So, if the EEU sabotages us, we can sabotage it, too. If the structure and its members do not keep them in a proper way, Armenia can de facto paralyze the structure’s activities while staying de jure its member: we can thwart the adoption of any decision (including involvement of new members). I think we can make use of this opportunity and advise the EEU members to take note of it.
