Tigran Mukuchyan and Gagik Harutyunyan will be invited to teach at HHK's political school (video)
Ashot Aghababyan, a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), has criticized HHK’s initiative to open a political school which will carry the name of late Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan. Aghababyan called the move ‘an act of dictatorship’ which was typical of the Soviet-era system. “You should not be surprised that there is a diversity of opinion within the party (HHK),” Armen Ashotyan, Deputy Chairman of the HHK, told media today. Mr Aghababyan suggests his teammates to think about opening a kindergarten as well. “I think you did not understand the humour of our colleague,” said Ashotyan. Journalists also asked Armen Ashotyan, who until recently served as Minister of Education and Science, whether the party is going to invite Arakel Movsisyan, Mher Sedrakyan and Samvel Alexanyan, Seyran Saroyan and other ‘intellectual’ Republican figures to teach at the HHK’s political school. “They will neither teach nor study there,” Ashotyan replied. At the same time, the Republican official added that they are likely to invite Tigran Mukuchyan (Chairman of the Central Election Commission) and Gagik Harutyunyan (Chairman of the Constitutional Court) ‘if, of course, they find time.’ “We would like these people to share their experience, especially during elections,” he said. The school will be headed by Ashotyan. However, Ashotyan does not consider it a new job for him. “I am writing songs, running a TV show and I am deputy chairman of the HHK,” he said. The school will be opened in May for party members, supporters and people who are not affiliated with any party. Ashotyan says the attendees will be free to vote the way they want during the elections.
