Garnik Margaryan to remain in custody
The lawyer of jailed politician Garnik Margaryan does not exclude that Margaryan’s restraint might be reviewed in the near future. “Everything is possible,” lawyer Hovik Arsenyan told A1+. Yesterday the lawyer visited Garnik Margaryan, Chairman of the Fatherland and Honour Party. He says Margaryan does not have any health problems. The 72-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cooperating with a criminal gang led by Artur Vardanyan. On November 25, 2015, law enforcement raided a house in Yerevan and arrested nine individuals, including Vardanyan. The National Security Service (NSS) announced the gang was planning to carry out a series of serious crimes in Armenia. Margaryan does not admit the charges leveled against him. “He says he was not aware of the group and its plans,” Hovik Arsenyan added.
