Karabakh forces repel attempted incursion of Azerbaijani reconnaissance unit
Nagorno-Karabakh’s military says they prevented an Azerbaijani reconnaissance-sabotage group from infiltrating into its territory yesterday. According to the statement issued by the NKR Ministry of Defense, the incident happened in the southeastern direction of the Line of Contact at about 11.20 pm on March 28. The NKR Defense Army’s frontline units timely spotted the movement of the enemy’s special detachment and took retaliatory actions, inflicting losses on the enemy and driving it to its former position. The NKR military did not sustain any casualties during the skirmish. The NKR Defense Ministry also reports that tensions remained heightened along the Line of Contact on March 7 and 8, with Azerbaijani forces firing some 12000 rounds across the border at the weekend. The Defense Army’s frontline units opened retaliatory fire to silence the enemy. In addition, Azerbaijani mass media spread information on March 8 that Armenian forces opened fire in the direction of Chaylu village, targeting shepherds and their flock. The NKR Defense Ministry refutes the reports calling them disinformation and states that, unlike Azerbaijan, Armenian forces have never opened fire on civilians.
