Armenia may become a sandwich, says Armen Navasardyan
Support A1+!“It is wrong to believe that ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) does not have future. It rests on serious social, psychological and philosophical grounds. Many powerful political figures and experts stand behind it and it is wrong to believe that these people are gathered from the street,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Armen Navasardyan said on January 15. If it is possible to destroy ISIL in Syria, it does not yet mean that they have put an end to terrorist groups all over the world, because they can in any country. Mr Navasardyan says when Russia began actions against Syria it was a turning point because it broke the stereotype that ISIL is invincible. In addition, Putin h managed to bring Russia close to the Middle East. “They are discussing the issue of security of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh there. There are big risks for Russia. Whenever there is a threat for Russia, there is also a threat for Armenia. Even Turkey which has fed and strengthened ISIL is not sure that ISIL will act against it one day,” he said. Similarly, Mr Navasardyan sees a danger in the South Caucasus. “Azerbaijan may fall to Islamic rule at any moment and it poses a great danger. In the given situation, Armenia may merely become a sandwich,” he said.
