Alexander Iskandaryan: Azerbaijanis are getting nervous around the situation in their country (video)
What is going on in Azerbaijan today speaks to the current situation in the country and the economic collapse, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan told media today. Speaking about the sharp decline in oil prices [in Azerbaijan], he said the present situation affects the country’s policy and, first of all, its foreign policy. “People in Washington may think that Azerbaijan is rich in oil and focus their attention on Baku, where everything glitters and numerous events are held regularly, but, in fact, the situation is very serious there. There is a big difference between the rich and the poor,” Mr Iskandaryan said. In reply to A1+ whether the situation in Azerbaijan can anyhow affect its relations with Armenia, the political analyst said, “The consequences are already evident -the escalation of border tensions, change of weaponry… If in the past they [Azerbaijanis] used only snipers today they are also using mortars. Azerbaijanis are getting nervous around the situation in their country. Both Armenia and the Armenian Cause are a good tool for them to retain power.”
