Temperature to drop to -27: Farmers and greenhouse owners warned to be careful
Heavy snowfalls and a sharp drop in temperature are expected across Armenia, says the Armhydromet Service. On the night of January 3, the temperature will be -15 -20 °C in Ararat valley, and -22 - 27 °C in mountainous regions. The Ministry of Agriculture warns citizens that greenhouse crops, as well as potatoes seeds, vegetables and fruits stored in warehouses, basements and cellars may be damaged by freezing temperatures if additional measures are not taken to protect them from frosts. The Ministry does not rule out disruption of electricity and water supply because of bitter frosts and heavy snowfalls. At the same time, the Ministry advises greenhouse owners and farmers to be most cautious and vigilant and turn to alternative heating sources if necessary.
