Karen Kocharyan, an expert of political technologies, was saddened by the fact that after the constitutional referendum held in Armenia on Sunday, December 6, social networks and TV channels provided different information on the referendum results “When I read social websites and then watched TV they seemed to me like Western and Eastern Armenia, different states where different people had gone to the polls to cast their ballots,” Mr Kocharyan said today. “There's a total lack of confidence in each other,” he stressed. Mr Kocharyan added that he had invalidated his vote by writing “I do not know” on the ballot paper. In reply to A1+ whether it meant that he did not care about the results of the referendum, Mr Kocharyan said, “Surely, I care. I just agree with both fronts on certain issues, therefore I did so.” Speaking about the “Yes” and “No” reality how, Mr Kocharyan said it helped break up the general apathy in public. “People were in complete ignorance, they were unaware of anything. But in the end, they were already asking questions about the new constitution.” Then he added that people in regions do not care about the constitutional changes, they have other problems and concerns. The expert added that he would like representatives of the Armenian National Congress (HAK), Heritage and New Armenia to participate in the show. “I invited them as well but they said it was a government-backed project. But they could come and say whatever they wanted during the 240-hour live broadcast. I think they regretted later, but it was already late,” he said.
