There is only one clinic in Amasia, say villagers (video)
Participants of the “Yes” and “No” TV project today are meeting residents of Amasia community. The campaigners were welcomed by employees of the local nursery school, school and City Hall, who left the venue immediately after the meeting. “They told us to attend the meeting, therefore we are here. Why should we leave our work and come here otherwise?” said one of the residents. Jemma Vardanyan, another resident of Amasia, seized the opportunity to express her complaint about the lack of adequate medical services in the community. “There is only one working clinic here and everyone from neighbouring villages comes here. Why should we have to go to the end of the world to get medical services?” she said. Amasia is the birthplace of Armenia’s “mega-minister” Gagik Khachatryan and his co-villagers are proud of the fact. “The blocks of flats that you see here have all been gasified out of charge,” say villagers. Gagik Khachatryan also opened a garment factory in Amasia which employs 60 people who receive a monthly salary of 30 000 drams.
