Chess: Armenian teams win their Round 6 games
Armenia’s women’s team took a 2.5-1.5 victory over Spain in a Round 6 game at the European team chess championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. Lilit Galoyan and Maria Kursova scored victories while Elina Danielyan lost her game because of a gross mistake. After the victory, Armenia has 7 points and needs only victories to equal the leaders of the tournament. In the men’s section, Armenia’s team again won a 2.5-1.5 victory against Germany. Hrant Melkumyan won his game while Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargsyan and Karen Grigoryan drew their games. The team scored 8 points and joined the leaders. Now the team needs only victories to win a prize.
