“Gallup International” company ahead of the constitutional referendum summed up the results of the polls carried out among 1000 citizens during September. According to the polls, a large segment of society doesn’t know which system of government operates in the country at present. “69.8 percent of the citizens said that they are aware of the current system of government. But when asked to name it, 55.3 percent answered that it is a presidential system of government and only 36.2 percent noted that it is a semi-presidential system,” said Director of the company Aram Navasardyan. 61.6 percent of the population is aware of the constitutional amendments, about 31 percent- no. “34.1 percent of the people noted that the changes are directed to the reproduction of the authorities,” said Mr. Navasardyan. One part of the respondents considered it to be a positive shift, and the others couldn’t give a clear answer. In reply to the question how the citizens will vote in the referendum, the polls showed the following picture. “42 percent of the respondents said that they will participate in the referendum, and to the question how they will vote, 29.1 percent said that they will vote in favor of it and 26.1 percent will vote against it. And the other respondents have difficulty in answering whether they will participate or not,” said Director of “Gallup”. The company also touched upon other topics. In reply to the question how the citizens assess the economic situation of our country, the following results turned out, “No one assessed it as excellent, good- 1.8 percent, 24.3- medium, 33.8- bad, 39.1 percent assessed it as very bad. And in response to the question how much they approve the head of the country and certain structures, it turned out that 25.6 percent approves the work of the president, 20.9 percent approves the work of the Government and 18.6 percent- the work of the NA,” said Mr. Navasardyan.
