Agricultural and Veterinary Service Center opened in Hayravank
“Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development” (CARD) foundation within the framework of the projects implemented with the financing of the U.S. Agency for International Development has founded Agricultural and Veterinary Service Center in Hayravank community of Gegharkunik marz. The new specialized center will provide technical and business assistance in the issues of animals’ health and animal husbandry to the community’s vets, farmers and individuals engaged in farming. The official opening of the center took place on October 20. The RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, Head of USAID Armenian Office Karen Hilliard, Governor of Gegharkunik marz Rafik Grigoryan, as well as representatives from the USAID, CARD foundation and Hayravank community took part in the opening ceremony. The new center will be a regional node for the development and spread of the advanced methods of agribusiness. The center will promote the development of new market ties and will support the farmers of the region in the issue of availability of financial services. Workshops and training courses will be held at the center by the Armenian and foreign specialists. It is planned that it will serve more than 2000 farmers from 10 communities of Gegharkunik marz. It is the first center founded by the “Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development” (CARD) foundation within the framework of USAID DPESSA project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. The opening of the second center in Gegharkunik marz is planned next week in Vardenis community.
