The Armenian Rebirth public and political union, which was recently created by the Country of Law Party (OEK), will say “no” to the constitutional amendments, though it is not going to join the “No” camp. “The Armenian Rebirth is a big front, including140 public and political organizations. We call on everyone to come and join us, all those who support our ideology and philosophy,” says Vahe Movsisyan, a member of the public and political union. Karen Tumanyan, another member of the union, adds that they are open for everyone. “He who wakes up first, should unite the others. Let them come and join us. We have our own front represented by Armenian Rebirth.” Then the union presented its reasons for opposition the draft constitution. “We oppose the weakening of the institute of presidency. We are an EEU member which is a union on the presidential level. Can you imagine Serzh Sargsyan telling his colleagues there to wait for him until he calls the prime minister and consults him on a definite question? This cannot happen.” The Hayazn party is also against the constitutional amendments but they are not going to join the “No” camp. “We do not have any contact with the No front for they do not seek that communication. They sent out invitations and asked us to come and participate in their meetings as viewers, but we refused,” says Armen Aghalyan, a member of the party. He adds that they can lead the fight alone. “Different forces are fighting in different ways. The Armenian National Congress (HAK) wants to save the presidential system established by Levon Ter-Petrosyan. The Public Salvation Front wants to unseat the authorities,” he stressed. Asked whether Hayazn might join Armenian Rebirth, Mr Aghayan said, “In summer, Heghine Bisharyan telephoned me and said something. I did not understand definitely what she wanted and refused her because I shall never accept any offer by the OEK. ”
