Ara Abrahamyan's intention to set up political party is not a threat to HHK (video)
Many in Armenia think that President of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan intends to fill the gap that opened after the resignation of Gagik Tsarukuan, the former leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) which is felt by the poor electorate that relies on the party’s money. Secretary of the BHK faction Vahe Enfiajyan said in this connection: “Our people see and understand everything and always express their opinion during different political ordeals.” Perhaps that man [Ara Abrahamyan] is sent to Armenia by Russia which does not want to weaken its position in Armenia. Vahe Enfiajyan says Russia would not have turned to Ara Abrahamyan for that purpose. “The cooperation between Russia and Armenia has centuries-old history,” he stressed. Vahram Baghdasaryan, Head of the Republican Party (HHK) faction, says there is a vacant seat in the political arena which can be filled by Ara Abrahamyan, though it is meant for a healthy opposition. “That would be a constructive, rather than a swearing force who will notice both positive and negative things,” he stressed. Vahram Baghdasaryan welcomes Ara Abrahamyan’s intention to enter Armenia’s political domain. He does not bother that Abrahamyan might cast a shadow on the HHK or be a threat to his party. The Republican lawmaker would not like to speak about the UAR President as someone who will give money during the 2017 presidential elections which was done during the previous two elections by Gagik Tsarukyan. “We do not need a political force which will distribute money during the elections.” Aram Manukyan, Secretary of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction, says Ara Abrahamyan has nothing to do in Armenia. “A political party is not only a group of people, it is not a kolkhoz (collective farm).” He says Ara Abrahamyan is coming to Armenia to distribute money like the HHK, BHK and Country of Law Party (HHK). Abrahamyan has already discussed his plans to establish a political party with the HHK leader [Serzh Sargsyan]. “If someone comes and asks the country’s president whether he can form a political party in his country, it means he intends to do a business there. He has spoilt the business from the very beginning as he does not want to form an opposition force and change the power in the country.
