Hundreds of freedom fighters are staying in border regions of Tavush marz these days. A group of freedom fighters that has recently returned from the marz today met with reporters in Yerevan to speak about the recent tensions on the border with Azerbaijan. “I can say that we have excellent soldiers and commanders. We do not have weak people in our Armed Forces and everyone is ready to give an adequate response to the enemy if need be,” said freedom fighter Arkadi Mangasaryan. Albert Poghosyan, a member of Nikol Duman detachment, says he and his friends are ready to go and defend the country’s borders if Azerbaijan provokes war. “I was serving in our Armed Forces from 1994 and left service in 2002. If the commander in chief issues an order, we are all ready to go and fight for our country. We shall go to the frontline and give an adequate response to Azerbaijan,” said Arkadi Mangasaryan. Another freedom fighter, Martin Martirosyan, says Azerbaijani troops are weak enough to win the war. “When you hit a Turk in his mouth, he bounces back in fear. Today I can say that the Azerbaijani leadership is not confident that their people can stand up, take arms and fight. Therefore, they incite tensions on the border to show that they are capable of doing something,” he said.
