Sos Gimishyan: Serzh Sargsyan will cause less damage to the country than the constitutional amendments (video)
Chairman of the opposition Christian-Democratic Rebirth Party does not mind if Serzh Sargsyan remains in office but without adopting the controversial constitutional amendments. “Serzh Sargsyan will cause less damage to the country than the constitutional amendments [he initiated],” Sos Gimishyan told reporters on September 7. Mr Gimishyan added that he is an Armenia and cannot tolerate the amendments. “Even the Republicans are a lesser evil than the new constitution,” he continued urging Mr Sargsyan not to hold a referendum on the draft constitutional amendments. “If your ultimate goal is to stay in power you will find another way to do it,” Gimishyan said addressing Serzh Sargsyan. At the same time, he expressed hope that the draft amendments will not be put to a referendum and people will unite to fight against the package.
