BHK does not explain why it changed its position on constitutional amendments (video)
The opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) which was against the constitutional amendments and called on all opposition forces to unite in the fight against the package has now changed its position and stopped the fight against the constitutional amendments. The party’s spokesman [Vahan Babayan] says this is due to the emergence of a new political situation. “Months ago, there was a threat that two poles might confront, the political situation was also different in the country. Therefore, we said that in the given political situation it was not the right time for the constitutional reforms. Today, you see that the political tension has weakened,” he said. The party is going to express its position on the draft constitutional amendments in the near future. “The Prosperous Armenia Party is free in setting its own agenda. We are waiting for the opinion of our regional structures. You will know the stance of the party before the election day,” Mr Babayan added.
