The Yerevan Municipality has rejected as notification by the Founding Parliament movement to hold a round-the-clock rally at Liberty Square on July 31 and a march [during the rally] through the city’s central streets from 8:30pm to 10:00pm. The Municipality offered the opposition movement to hold the rally near Erebuni Museum in Yerevan from 8:00am to 10:00pm on the aforesaid days and the march from 8:00pm to 9:30pm. At the same time, the city council offered quite a different route for the march. The notification had been submitted to the Municipality by Armenian citizen Vardan Balyan. Varuzhan Avetisyan, Spokesman for the Founding Parliament movement, says the reasons for the rejection are evident. “A definite force is planning definite actions and obviously, as long as they [authorities] are in power, they will reject us,” Mr Avetisyan told A1+. It is still unknown whether the movement will agree to hold a rally near Erebuni Museum or not.
