Mikael Melkumyan: I would not use the word 'reproduction' now (video)
The Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) has never fought against personalities, BHK member Mikael Melkumyan said in reply to the question why his party does not criticize Serzh Sargsyan any longer. “Why should we fight against parties or personalities?” he said adding that he has never been an ardent supporter of the word “against.” Before expressing an opinion about the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Melkumyan should consider his environment to know whether ‘the time is ripe.’ The lawmaker says his party promotes a culture of tolerance. “Do you thing we can solve problems by shouting “Go away?” Life has shown that we cannot,” he stressed. Mr Melkumyan has noticed that the authorities want to change and make reforms, they see that certain processes affect the country’s reputation. “They see internal signals for reforms. Let us not say that the authorities are confident that everything is all right [in the country]. Those changes are reflected in economic and social indicators which are not that satisfactory,” he said. Asked whether his party claims to power after the constitutional reforms initiated by the HHK, the BHK lawmaker said, “Any political party which is not ready or does not believe that it will come to power has nothing to do in politics.” Mr Melkumyan has stopped claiming that Serzh Sargsyan aims to ensure his reproduction by the proposed constitutional reforms. “I would not use the word ‘reproduction’ now,” he said.
