Armenians will never know what happened in the Avetisyans’ house in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri on January 12, 2015. Armenian was deprived of the last opportunity to know the truth after the investigation of the felony was entrusted to the Russian side. Judging from the actions of the Russian side and the available evidence we can only say that the final decision will be brought by Russia,” says lawyer Janna Alexanyan. The relatives of the victims do not think that those guilty of the high-profile murder case in Gyumri will be disclosed and punished. “We do not expect the murder to be disclosed as the case seems to be completely forgotten. No one is speaking about it today. It seems that the tragedy has not even happened,” said Julieta Jalalyan. They often meet with Armenian lawyers and inquire about the course of the investigation, but they understand that nothing depends on the Armenian side. Meanwhile, there appear to be a lot of questions to be asked. Relatives of the Avetisyans have long harbored suspicions that Valeri Permyakov, the Russian soldier who allegedly gunned down the seven-member Armenian family in Gyumri in January, acted not alone, but had accomplices and that the investigators hide something.
