In the frames of “Jump Armenia” environmental campaign 28 young people jumped into the Azat River at 15:15 on 7 June. The objective of the campaign is to raise the issue of the conservation of water resources in Armenia and to raise public awareness on the conservation of water resources in Armenia. It’s the first time that Jump Armenia” environmental campaign has been held in Armenia by “Association of Young Biologists” NGO thus joining the international campaign of “Big Jump” devoted to the conservation of the rivers and lakes. In 2005 on the initiative of “European network of Rivers” international organization around 250,000 people jumped into the rivers and lakes in their countries in 22 European countries. From that time one annual events are held in June. “The foremost problem is the environmental problems, as we have to conserve our water resources, as the most easily exhausted resources. As scientists assure in several years the planet will face a serious problem in connection with the reserves of freshwater,” said Sevanna Isajyan, Press Secretary of “Association of Young Biologists” NGO.
