Armenian Parliament passes amendments to Law on Referendum
Armenian lawmakers today voted 100-1 to pass [in the first reading] the bill on making amendments to the Law on Referendum. The bill is co-authored by Artsvik Minasyan, a lawmaker of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun. Before the voting, lawmakers of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) said they would vote in favour of the bill though they had proposals. The Country of Law (OEK) and Armenian National Congress (HAK) said they would abstain from the vote. Head of the HAK faction Levon Zurabyan said they understood the aim of changes and would present their proposals and position in the forthcoming meeting of a working group. Artsvik Minasyan said they were ready to hold a joint discussion to consider the proposals. “I think we will work effectively,” he said. Only HAK lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan voted against the bill.
