Who is Zhirayr Sefilyan? Manvel Grigoryan says he does not know such position as 'special battalion' (video)
Chairman of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union Manvel Grigoryan says he does not know Commander of the Shushi Special Battalion by the name of Zhirayr Sefilyan. “I do not know such a staff position as “special battalion.” For eight years I served as Deputy Minister of Defence, Corps, I was commander of a brigade, battalion, an ordinary soldier but I have never heard such an expression. I only know Zhirayr Sefilyan,” said General Manvel Grigoryan. Then who is Zhirayr Sefilyan who was arrested on the threshold of April 24 and set free after the commemorative events marking the centennial of Armenian Genocide? In reply to A1+’s question, the Republican lawmaker said, “He is an ordinary Armenian, a Karabakh war veteran, a man like you.” In reply to our next question whether Sefilyan had not been a commander, Mr Grigoryan said, “Where should I know? The entire nation is a commander” Manvel Grigoryan declined to comment on Sefilyan’s arrest. “I am neither a lawyer nor a police official to talk to you on the arrest.” Asked whether Sefilyan really posed a danger to Armenia, the General said, “I do not view 10 million Azerbaijanis as a threat. Why should I view individuals, like Sefilyan, as a threat?”
