HHK lawmaker Karine Achemyan was present at the NKR parliamentary elections as an observer for the second time. The impressions are only positive. “Our delegation didn’t encounter any incident. These elections were different by their new political scheme, which will develop democracy in Artsakh,” she said. Mrs. Achemyan got the impression that Artskh people perceive elections as a holiday and it is positive that this time the number of voters has increased by 3000 compared with the previous elections. According to the assessment by Mrs. Achemyan, NKR elections can be a good example for the Republic of Armenia. “I can see progress both in Karabakh and Armenia from election to election. But in the RA, when you enter a polling station, the atmosphere is tense,” highlighted the lawmaker. But first of all Artsakh elections must be an example for Azerbaijan. “Foreign observes also mentioned that elections in Artsakh cannot be compared with the elections in Azerbaijan, these elections were free,” noted Mrs. Achemyan. HHK lawmaker explains the fact, that some countries didn’t recognize NKR elections, “They think in that way as they don’t recognize Nagorno Karabakh. When they come to the NKR they see the reality.” Touching upon the arrest of political-economic figure Gohar Yenokyan, Mrs. Achemyan noted that as a woman and lawmaker she thinks that the woman at that age, who also has health problems, must be in freedom during the trial. “Besides I don’t think that she will escapee from Armenia,” said the lawmaker. Asked, what she thinks about the arrest and release of Jirayr Sefilyan and other political prisoners, Mrs. Achemyan stressed, “Let me say that there are no political prisoners in our country, they violated the law and that’s why they were arrested.”
