Harut Sassounian, Armenian American Publisher and Editor of “California Courier” newspaper is impressed with the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. “I had expected less than happened,” he said. Mr. Sassounian considers the fact that many people wait that the President of the USA will utter the word “genocide” to be waste of time. “When Obama does not say “genocide”, everyone says that the USA refuses to recognize the Genocide. It is wrong, as America has recognized the Genocide long ago for many times. It makes no sense to recognize the Genocide again. If in the future Obama says “genocide”, so what? If then another president comes, must we want him to utter that word again?” highlighted the Editor of “The California Courier.” Mr. Sassounian is sure that Armenians are clever in everything except diplomacy, “There have not been brilliant political ideas during the whole history. We were under the authority of others, as we weren’t able to lead the people.” The main concern of Mr. Sassounian over the issue of the Armenian Genocide is that the recognition of the Genocide is talked about more that the compensation. “I want that 10 percent, which talks about the compensation to become 90 percent,” summed up Mr. Sassounian.
