Turkologist: Turkey tries to trap everyone by opening its archives (video)
Turkey’s reaction to Pope Francis’s speech and the resolution of the European parliament to recognize the 1915 mass killings of Armenians during World War I under Ottoman rule as genocide is not consistent with political and diplomatic norms, say experts in Armenia. They observe panic in Turkey against the background of an increasing tendency, particularly in Europe, to recognize the Armenian Genocide. By opening the archives of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey simply wants to trap everyone. However, experts in Armenia believe that Erdogan will stumble in his calculations.
