Serzh Sargsyan hosts son of composer Aram Khachaturian

President Serzh Sargsyan today hosted Karen Khachaturian – the son of illustrious composer Aram Khachaturian. The Armenian President emphasized that the relatives of the world-famous and acclaimed artist not only maintain ties with their historical motherland, but also do their best to back the efforts of the state aimed at honoring Aram Khachaturian’s memory through preserving his rich musical legacy and passing them on to future generations. Karen Khachaturian thanked President Serzh Sargsyan, the Ministry of Culture and all those interested persons who continuously pay undivided attention to maestro’s life and activities, come up with new projects geared towards the preservation and introduction of his legacy and contribute to the popularization of classical music, especially that of Aram Khachaturian and its propagation among youth. In this context, he expressed his particular satisfaction with Aram Khachaturian International Competition. The parties also attached importance to the large-scale works aimed at digitalizing the great composer’s legacy, restoring and maintaining his house-museum and including its valuable items in the UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register. The Armenian President stressed that the state will continue in the same vein to take care of the legacy of Aram Khachaturian – the talented son of the Armenian people – and to praise the eminent composer through new initiatives. As part of those initiatives, the President discussed with Karen Khachaturian, the issue pertaining to publication of a complete collection of Aram Khachaturian’s works and expressed his readiness to support its realization.
