What was the fate of construction of new energy block of the NPP? (video)
The exploitation of Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant was prolonged until 2026 with the financial support of the Russian side. Governments of Armenia and Russia signed an agreement in February according to which the Russian side will provide $270 million privileged loan and $ 30 million grant. Today the energy produced by the nuclear power plant is the cheapest and provides not only 40 % of consumption of the RA population but it is also exported. Taking into consideration this fact, the authorities cannot put up with the idea that 30-year exploitation term of the only functioning second energy block has expired and it must be closed. It is the demand of the European Union. In spite of current problems, the terms of exploitation of new energy block with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts are talked over. Details- in the video
