Twelve-year education will be compulsory in Armenia starting 2017
On the proposal of the National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan, the vote on the bills on amending the RA Laws on Education and General Education have been postponed in order to enable lawmakers to once again discuss the concerns raised by opposition MPs. Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, who participated in the sitting of the relevant committee, says detailed and exhaustive explanations were given to MPs during the working meeting. “We again discussed the proposal, facts and available data. Some editorial changes were made in the package to make it more comprehensive. The bill will be put to a vote tomorrow,” he said. The document suggests switchover to a twelve-year compulsory education system starting 2017.
