Ramil Safarov no longer 'interferes with' relations between Armenian and Hungarian scholars
The relations between the National Academies of Sciences of Armenia and Hungary were restored a long time ago, says President of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Armenia. After the extradition of Ramil Safarov, an Azerbaijani officer who killing sleeping Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan with an axe in Budapest in 2004, NAS President Radik Martirosyan said they were suspending relations with their Hungarian counterparts. He says after Safarov’s extradition and pardoning, Armenian and Hungarian scientists said all issues related to the extradition would be discussed on a diplomatic level. “Then we decided to disrupt our relations with the Hungarian NAS,” said Mr Martirosyan.
